Mirror, Mirror

Eileen Hull

My youngest has gotten a real job! Soon she will be moving out on her own :-( I decided to make her something for her new place. She loves bling- her screen name has been “Glitter Girl” since she was in middle school, so I decided to make her a decorative mirror. I chose the beautiful Duetica DT Mandolyn font to create the artwork on the mirror. To make the monogram, I placed a transparency sheet over printed paper. Then I cut a piece of frosted contact paper about 5″ x 5″. I then lined up and ran the transparency, lettering and contact paper through my printer. Next, I cut out the lettering design with craft knife. As an alternative, if you have a digital cutter, such as Sizzix or Silhouette, you can import the image and let the machine do the fine cutting work. When letter is all cut out, remove the background contact paper. Carefully peel the lettering from transparency and place it in position on mirror tile. If desired, color in letter with Copic markers. Add Swarovski crystals to letter if desired. Adhere crystals with Zip Dry glue.

SUPPLIES:

Clean 12″ x 12″ mirror tile
Frosted contact paper
Flat Swarovski crystals in 3 sizes
Zip Dry Paper Glue
Transparency sheet
Copic markers
12″ x 12″ frame without glass

All In A Name

Veronica Goff

I can’t express enough how much I LOVE Duetica fonts! I was playing with my last name and came up with this beautiful piece. The DT Woodwynds font was perfect for my design. The delicate swirls & dots just gave me so much room to play with in making this a prized piece to hang up on my front hallway so all can see. On Kraft colored cardstock, I printed out my whole name in different sizes all over the page in a light gray. Then right smack in the center I placed the letter G, big & bold. Although you can read the last name in the background, the letter G is what is most eye catching! On the centered G, a thick layer of crackle paint was generously spread. Let dry thoroughly on its own to give the crackling ingredient time to do its job. When dried, I added some foam metal dots where the Woodwynds font dots were. Striking! I just love adding metal in my artwork! Gives it the POP I was looking for.

Driving Miss Candie

Candice Windham

Miss Candie – that’s me, and so many days it seems my dear husband is at the wheel carting me around from place to place. He is such a good sport, that I wanted to show him how much I appreciated his love and support. What better way than with some fun wall art. For this project I used the Duetica DT Woodwynds font. With this font you are able to choose just how much the swirls embellish each letter, which makes it very fun to create with. I sent my hubby hugs and kisses by making the background XO pattern again using the DT Woodwynds font.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Suzanne Sergi

Living in California we do not have the privilege of snow days! However, one day we ventured on a three hour trip to see a bit of snow. This was the first time my children got to enjoy the white stuff, and it was the perfect day! The Duetica DT Woodwynds font was also perfect to document this playful page. The swishes on the font, reflected the snowflake designs I already put down in patterned paper and embellishments!

Moments Worth Remembering

Kathy Peterson

I adore this photo of my grand niece Emma Cate. Her face just lights up with personality. It reminds me of those little girl days long gone by, and how I draw upon them for inspiration (and a pick-me-up when the trials of adulthood become heavy). The Duetica DT Woodwynds font was prefect for this sentiment!  It is so easy to create beautiful sentiments with this font because you have 15 styles to mix and match!  And what a great gift idea with the holidays approaching!

Giving Thanks

Eileen Hull

I really wish there was a little more time in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Store decor seems to go from Halloween straight to Christmas. I think Thanksgiving is getting short-changed! We should dedicate more time to giving thanks for all we have, don’t you think? I wanted something to hang on the wall to remind me of all the things I am thankful for as the hustle and bustle of the holiday season entered full swing. I chose the Duetica DT Woodwynds font for the sentiment. This font has 15 variations for each and every letter, starting with a plain serif, each successive version contains more and more swashes as you click through them. The good thing about this system is that if it starts looking too swirly (really? is there such a thing?), you can intersperse your phrase or title with a balance of undecorated and decorated letters creating a truly unique final project that pleases your eye. Stickles glitter glue was added on top of the letter forms to accentuate them. A fairly heavy line was applied to the larger letter strokes and then spread out to thinner areas with a toothpick. I finished the project with some 3D flowers cut out with Sizzix dies.

SUPPLIES:
Frame and mat
kraft paper
Stickles glitter glue
Thermoweb Zots.
Sizzix 3D Flower die designed by Beth Reames.
Other accents include dimensional leaf stickers.

Warmest Winter Wishes

Niki Meiners

As an avid crafter, I am always on the lookout for creative gift containers that I can alter in some fashion. When I saw the Laughing Cow Cheese containers I knew that I wanted to save them for something crafty. When I started to wrap my presents I had a few gift cards that needed more than the envelope they arrived in. (Yes, I am one of those crazy people who are finished with their holiday shopping already and I try to have the gifts wrapped by Thanksgiving.) I started to dig through my box of containers and that is when I hit the mother-load. I found three Laughing Cow Cheese boxes. They were the perfect size and disguised the tell-tale rectangular shape of the gift cards. It is always fun to keep them guessing up to the last second. I chose the Duetica DT Woodwynds font in light blue because it just said swirling winter snowflakes to me. To get paper that continued the theme, I went to my Basic Grey Christmas stash. Everything came together at once. A little ink on the container, a tag, an organza bow and some pop-dots to make the sentiment stand out and I was all set. One gift done and a few dozen more on their way.

Springtime Wishes

Kristie Taylor

I love this photo. I can feel the warmth of the sun, the promise of new life beginning. I can see the little dandelion seeds taking flight, caught up in a gentle breeze. I used a number of layers of paper to set the stage for this page and added die cut flowers and vines. I was looking for the perfect font to carry this theme and found it in Duetica Lettering Arts Studio’s DT Woodwynds font. The font lets you add just the right amount of swirls and vines to each and every letter. To complete the project, I printed the title on cardstock with orange ink.

Fall Blessings Card

Christy Monge

With frost definitely on the pumpkin, now is the perfect time to send a note to someone who has bless your life. My niece is such a blessing to have in our family this year. Her arms are open to share bountiful blessings for the season. It was a snap to create this custom autumn card using the Duetica Free Fall Digital Kit. The kit has a wide variety of digital papers and embellishments to choose from. I especially like the “torn edge” graphic that you can easily add to any paper background. For the titles I used the Duetica DT Woodwynds font. I love how the swirls and curls add motion to my words.
