Angels Among Us

Christy Monge

Inspired by a song that was sung by the children at our Christmas concert, I created this layout to celebrate the peace we feel by seeing our children safely tucked away in bed. In light of recent events, it is hard to believe anyone would want to harm them. Our children are our angels on earth, and we must cherish every moment. The Duetica DT Mandolyn font carries the graceful form of angel wings, whereas the base style of the Duetica DT Woodwynds font is the embodiment of being built on rock solid ground.

Pike Street

Candice Windham

This summer, I went with Colleen Baxter, Brenda Abdoyan and Viva Décor to Portland, Oregon for a trade show. The place is beautiful, the food fabulous and the company perfect. Larry went with me and after the show, we stayed an extra few days on the west coast. We had been to the Pike Street Market on my birthday in 2005. We both knew we had to make the drive up to Seattle again, because it is one of our favorite cities. Of course, Pike Street did not disappoint. I was so glad to have a digital camera so I didn’t have to worry about running out of film. I took more than 15 shots within one 5′ x 5′ area, so with the size of this place, you can only imagine the number of photos I came back with. The last time we went, I made at least ten traditional scrapbook pages, just about the different elements of this amazing market. It took a long time, and I kept having to run to the computer and printer to add just one more tag or pic or headline. This time, I settled for one page and used Duetica Lettering Arts Studio software, the DT Tin Whistle font library and their new Summer kit, to make a digital page which was complete in about half an hour.

My Little Fashionista

Niki Meiners

The Fashionista scrapbook page title is made using the Duetica DT Piper font and the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio outline feature. The lettering art was then hand cut with a craft knife.  The title is colorful like my daughters outfit.  That was made possible by using Spectrum Noir Alcohol  Markers inside the letter outlines.  The page is accented with flowers and hand doodling in keeping with the not so well coordinated look of my toddler.  I think she might be an artist in the making.

Top Grad!

Christy Monge

I had seen a graduation layout that I liked on Pinterest and knew I wanted to scraplift it for my own daughter’s graduation picture. Sometimes It helps to find a sketch or layout to get your brain going and this one really did the trick. However, I could not find a digital kit that fit my specifications so I virtually created my own! I created the worded background paper with various Duetica Fonts. I simply typed in words and phrases in Photoshop Elements, changed the fonts and sizes then added a bevel effect to all of them. I also cut the tags and cap from another paper using the cookie cutter tool (my new favorite in Photoshop. I grabbed the tassel from Google images. I love how I can manipulate the Duetica DT Riley font letters even more in Photoshop by making them wider and taller like I did in the Graduate title.

Joy to the World

Lori Servies

I love using paper; thick, thin, pattern, colored, embossed, die–cut, glitter, you name it, I love it. I just love paper. When I think about making a card or any scrapbooking-type project, the first question I ask myself is, “What is the main paper that I am going to use?” After I pick that, all the coordinating papers, ribbon, fonts, etc. are then selected to match. This month the project was mixed-media. At first I panicked, but when I really sat down and started thinking about it, all my projects are really mixed-media, just some more than others. Even in a simple card, one would use not only paper, but ribbon, lettering, maybe a button, some glitter, etc. As you can see, that includes quite a variety of media. On this card, I used several types of paper, white tulle, a head pin, ribbon, yarn edging, and a charm made out of metal, gems, and a pearl. Of course I finished the card with the Duetica DT Piper font. Duetica fonts are perfect for mixed media projects, because all their variations really embrace the textural diversity of mixed media. A mixed-media project is inclusive to the projects that most of us are all ready making. We only need to broaden our vision.

Beach Babies

Jaclyn Keys

I designed this layout after seeing adorable pictures my sister took of my niece and nephew while they were at the beach. I layered some of my favorite papers and used my Silhouette digital cutter to cut out the title. The title was set in the Duetica DT Piper font, which is just so fun and lively. I has so many letter options to play with. Notice how the “B” in beach is different than the B in Babies and how they work so well together. I just ordered the prints from Shutterfly and can’t wait to add them to the completed layout when they arrive!

At the Beach

Niki Meiners

The Beach scrapbook page idea came together easily and then I decided to make it a wall hanging. I used the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio cool new outline feature and the Duetica DT Piper font for the title and hand colored the inside of the letters with Spectrum Noir markers. The paper stickers are from Echo Park and embellishments are from Buttons Galore and More. I love how I could make the title bring together the pattern paper and the mismatched outfits in the photo. Because in real life things are rarely coordinated.

Just Notes

Ann Butler

I love journals, notebooks and paper; I like to doodle, draw and write. Which may be why I like to create little notebooks and journals to have on hand for unexpected gifts and such. This little notebook was a snap to make since it was actually a purchased notebook that I picked up at a dollar store where they were 3 for $1….and yes I did pick up several to have on hand. I created the saying “Just a Note” with the DT Mandolyn font from the Duetica Lettering system. I printed the saying out on a piece of scrap print card stock by placing the print cardstock into the corner of the white card stock (where I knew it would print) with removable adhesive dots; making it easy to take off of the white card stock. I trimmed the saying down to fit on the front of the journal, inked up the edges, used my “Get-It-Straight” Laser Square to perfectly align the saying, glued it on and added the rhinestones. Created quick and easy, these would also be great to do with someone’s name on for a personal touch and with the Duetica Lettering System you can do just that!

It’s All About… Me

Candice Windham

This project is what I call, Using Up My Stash. I’ve had this cute book box for some time, but it was in a plastic bin (the clear kind so you can see what you have). Of course, it was packed so full and stacked on the top shelf of my storage area that I never saw this box until one day when I needed something else and didn’t want to drive to Memphis to get it. The Who’d a thunk it? title for this post is because I discovered something really cool about the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio. Now, you know how I love Duetica. I have posted a lot of projects using their fabulous lettering system, all (or most) with pretty detailed instructions for making even more changes once the type is set. I usually use either Photoshop or Illustrator, select the area I want to edit, and just drop in my color of choice. AND I had noticed the the outline option in the Duetica software. It just never occurred to me to actually use it, cut out the letters and color them to match my project. I’ve been digital for so long that the old tried and true ways have almost disappeared from my vocabulary.

I’ve been wanting to make a chronicle about my life. Most of you who know me well know that I am a firm believer of preserving memories. If you don’t preserve them, who will, right? When I found this box, I knew exactly what I wanted to do

Backyard Burger Burn

Keri Lee Sereika

burn

There’s nothing that says summer quite like a backyard burger burn, don’t you think? Just the smell of the grill as it cooks, the sounds of the kids laughing the background…ahhh that is sooo quintessential “Summer” to me. Well this month I thought it’d be fun to really showcase the versatility of the Duetica Piper Font as well as showcase how fun it can be to make PERSONALIZED invitations!! For this one I decided to use the Duetica DT Piper font. And while that was good, I found that adjusting the sizes of the fonts as I created also really helped bring out the “fun” in this font. As the final finishing touch I decided to “go wild” and do three different font colors. Ahhh now that my invitation is all done all that’s left to do is get the burgers made and on the grill!
