I love using paper; thick, thin, pattern, colored, embossed, die–cut, glitter, you name it, I love it. I just love paper. When I think about making a card or any scrapbooking-type project, the first question I ask myself is, “What is the main paper that I am going to use?” After I pick that, all the coordinating papers, ribbon, fonts, etc. are then selected to match. This month the project was mixed-media. At first I panicked, but when I really sat down and started thinking about it, all my projects are really mixed-media, just some more than others. Even in a simple card, one would use not only paper, but ribbon, lettering, maybe a button, some glitter, etc. As you can see, that includes quite a variety of media. On this card, I used several types of paper, white tulle, a head pin, ribbon, yarn edging, and a charm made out of metal, gems, and a pearl. Of course I finished the card with the Duetica DT Piper font. Duetica fonts are perfect for mixed media projects, because all their variations really embrace the textural diversity of mixed media. A mixed-media project is inclusive to the projects that most of us are all ready making. We only need to broaden our vision.
