Mirror, Mirror

Eileen Hull

My youngest has gotten a real job! Soon she will be moving out on her own 🙁 I decided to make her something for her new place. She loves bling- her screen name has been “Glitter Girl” since she was in middle school, so I decided to make her a decorative mirror. I chose the beautiful Duetica DT Mandolyn font to create the artwork on the mirror. To make the monogram, I placed a transparency sheet over printed paper. Then I cut a piece of frosted contact paper about 5″ x 5″. I then lined up and ran the transparency, lettering and contact paper through my printer. Next, I cut out the lettering design with craft knife. As an alternative, if you have a digital cutter, such as Sizzix or Silhouette, you can import the image and let the machine do the fine cutting work. When letter is all cut out, remove the background contact paper. Carefully peel the lettering from transparency and place it in position on mirror tile. If desired, color in letter with Copic markers. Add Swarovski crystals to letter if desired. Adhere crystals with Zip Dry glue.
