Christmas in July

Suzanne Sergi

It is Christmas in July, so I thought a Christmas card would be perfect. I love to get a jump start on Christmas projects, because when the season arrives it will be a busy time! I know I am always finding a need for that last minute Christmas Card for a friend, neighbor, or teacher. The Peppermint Collection has a traditional color palette of this magical season. I thought the DT Riley font was perfect to enhance my sentiment. I love that it created movement on my card, and the font expresses the joy of the season!

Kara’s Dress Up Party Invitation & Place Cards

Kathy Peterson

My granddaughter, Kara, loves to play dress up, and wanted to have a party for her friends. For the invitations and place cards, I drew some simple dresses in pen and decorated them with colored pencils. Next I composed the invitation details and guest names using the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio and Piper font. I printed them out on pink card stock, and then added the dresses and other embellishments using pop-dots for some added depth.

Pool Fun

Christy Monge

On a hot afternoon, nothing feels more refreshing than a quick dip in the pool. I created this 8×8 layout using Elizabeth Weaver’s “All Wet” kit from The Digital Scrapbook Place and Scrap Girls “Refresh” kit. The whole layout was created in Photoshop Elements. Used the “paints” feature that is included in several Duetica fonts like the DT Floot font. Paints allow you to include a dab of color behind your letters. I loved how the titles looked after I brought them in and embossed them and added a drop shadow to give them a 3-D effect.

Gardenias

Candice Windham

The scent of Gardenias is a heavy, heady aroma, and just a tiny whiff transports me back to the ’50s in South Memphis. I have tried to grow Gardenias several times with no luck. I planted this bush last spring, watered patiently, watched incessantly, but no blooms. I have always watered it from the backside of the fence, which is the reason I didn’t even see the bud for this bloom. I was so happily surprised to discover it yesterday! Of course I had to make a digital page about it for my Summer of 2011 book. The Duetica Mandolyn font was ideal for capturing the gentle grace of this fragrant flower.

Juicy

Becky Conley

This scrapbook page of my grand daughter enjoying watermelon in a BIG way was created using the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio and DT Tin Whistle font. The title is printed directly onto the background paper, the subtitle was printed on a separate 12×12 sheet of paper near the top so I could use the left overs for a photo matte. The circle accenting the photo is stitched with thread, sheer ribbon and then accented with dots of white dimensional paint (Tulip) which is also on the “squirts” to left and right.

Tree of Love

Niki Meiners

With a song in my heart, I have embraced mixed media again. There are so many new products on the market or new versions of old ones that I have always been fond of, that I could not say no to this gentle urging. The background is a mixture of Pan Pastels and Lumiere paint. Vintage German sheet music, stenciled transparency and buttons from Buttons Galore and More were added This Canvas has the sentiment printed in a mixture of Mandolyn, Floot and Piper fonts printed on Jacquard Inkjet Cotton Percale. Stitching was added and edges frayed. 3-dimensional gel was added for more texture.

You’re rushing to wrap a gift for a party and realize that you don’t have the right gift wrapping paper. When life gives you lemons you make lemonade, or in this case your own custom wrapping paper. You can make this simple DIY gift wrap and gift card using Photoshop and the Duetica Piper font. For the paper and card I sketched some balloon shapes, and wrote out Happy Birthday in Duetica Piper. Then all I had to do was print and wrap.

Cheepers!

Veronica Goff

Swallows build their nests in the most usual places. Here at our local community college where construction was taking place on one of the classroom buildings, a pair of swallows constructed their own addition. With my zoom lens on my Rebel Cannon camera and four little bitty nestlings looking squarely at me, this shot was made. After several swoops from the parent birds, my photo opportunity was over.

Just Me

Kristie Taylor

This is me… LOL no really, see that mischievous grin, well that is the real me. I used papers from DCWV to make the circle, and the layers. I cut the Duetica Piper font (because it is curly and fun) out of brown card stock. I then layered the letters onto patterned paper, and covered it with crackle paint, when the crackle was dry, I rubbed some distress ink over it to highlight the cracks.

For my daughter’s summer beach party, I needed a quick invitation, so I went digital hybrid. I created all the artwork for the card in Photoshop Elements and the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio. I used several Duetica fonts including DT Riley, DT Saxi and DT Tin Whistle. Once the design was complete, I printed the invites on white card stock, then added Crystal Stickles to the wave and blue rhinestones to the inside.
