Presto, Pesto!

Candice Windham

Several weeks ago, I started some Basil seeds indoors, thinking that they probably wouldn’t germinate since they were packed for 2007. Boy, was I wrong! I had basil running out my ears. I gave away a lot of it, but still have six pots on my deck, with four plants in each pot. My dear friend Jan Stone suggested I make pesto. Great idea. I did a scrapbook page to commemorate the eventful pesto pasta dinner. To mimic the pasta design, I added thin lines in a rusty brown, which was selected from the photo. I created the headline and subhead using Duetica Lettering Arts Studio’s Tin Whistle font.

Abandon

Kristie Taylor

This photo is of my kids playing on the beach. The Duetica Mandolyn font compliments it perfectly because of the fluid motion, it reminds me of them just running and playing with out a care in the world. I used my inkjet printer to print the font directly onto the canvas. The papers are from Clubscrap, and I also used some Ranger distress inks, and some canvas and burlap for texture. I made the flowers with fabric and Utee.

Time Mends

Niki Meiners

Recently a friend was going through a divorce. I wanted to let her know that the situation would eventually get better. She is moving into a new place and these are the colors she is hoping to use. So I thought she could use this little piece in her new place. To create this piece I started with a 6×6 canvas. I coated it with a slurry of gesso and Dye-Na-Flow to create the mottled effect. Using The Crafters Workshop stencils and texture paste I created a raised effect on the clocks. I added brown ink on top to emphasize the dimension. Jacquard makes a printable Inkjet Cotton that works fantastic. I used a variety of the Duetica Floot font to print the sentiment. I chose Floot since I could create the sentiment that closely resembled my handwriting. I printed it, cut it out and then I diluted the Dye-Na-Flow to make a watercolor effect. The fabric is adhered with Fabri-Tac. A clay heart was inked and cracked then glued upon the canvas. Chipboard and a button were added to complete the design.

Ava the Sleeping Beauty

Veronica Goff

Although professional photos are so nice neat & clean & posed, it’s the daily life you should really try to capture. Those shots are natural, not so perfect and candid to say the least. Below, Ava’s mama saw her little girl sleeping and grabbed the camera. When I saw this picture, I just knew I had to do something with it. Thus Sleeping Beauty came about. Sleeping Beauty & Ava are in the Mandolyn font created by Duetica. When in their Design Studio you have the power to change EACH letter to suit your taste. Other than being an easy system to work in, your lettering will be pretty much a one of a kind since each letter selection is yours to make.

A Dose of Joy

Becky Conley

Dragonflies always remind me of a warm summer afternoon stroll through a field of wild flowers. To spread a dose of summer joy, I created this cute card. I treated the watercolor paper lightly with the pouch and printed multiples (6) of my digital image onto 9×12 sheet. Die cut the decorative frame and trim the printed image to fit, Adhere with Best Glue Ever. outline wings and accents on body with Best Glue Ever, apply purple glitter. Add light lines of glue random inside wings and apply mauve glitter. Layer onto green paper and lavender card, I always use the Best Glue Ever! (ink the edges :o)

Vintage Flower Pin

Eileen Hull

Here’s a pin I made for a friend’s birthday. I used My Fresh Vintage Sizzix dies to make the colorfully cool flower. Once I made it, I realized I also needed a special way to present it and decided to make one in the style of a vintage button card. I used a Duetica font called Tin Whistle to create the card. I thought Tin Whistle was fun and had a hand written feel to it which went along with the handmade gift. I composed the title and text in the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio, and then imported them to Adobe Photoshop to add them to my card design

Tin Butterflies

Veronica Goff

After attending a CHA show I fell in love with metal embossing on a new level. Sure I had tried it several times….only to have the thin metal sheets tear. Magdalena Muldoon of MercArt used a tin coated pewter that performs magically under the embossing tools. While the outside is full of butterflies, I just had to bring their beauty inside as well. The butterflies patterns were copied out of the book and traced onto the pewter, for embossing. I added spots of color with alcohol inks by Jacquard. The metal shines through the alcohol inks beautifully. Now for the saying! Duetica fonts makes the customizing easy with their unique fonts! Here I’ve used the Duetica Floot font, making the letters wispy & carefree like the butterflies fluttering near them. As the butterflies dance around the happy phrase, beautiful paper flowers add punch to the whole project.

Stars & Stripes Altered Frame

Suzanne Sergi

With Fourth of July around the corner, I wanted to make a few more last minute decor items. I created a simple flag out of cardstock, cutting them into one inch strips. On the red strips, I decided to include the text ,”stars & stripes.” I simply made it continuous so it covered the entire surface. The font used was the whimsical Duetica DT Floot font. Of course, a celebration is not without a little bling, so I added a few round rhinestones to round out my project. I pop dotted the flag onto cardstock, and slipped it into a basic frame. This gave it more dimension as it pays tribute to our red, white, and blue!

Sweet Graduate

Suzanne Sergi

We recently celebrated someone special in my daughter Macie’s life. Macie’s assistant cheer coach will be graduating from high school this week. My daughter absolutely adores her, and we are so blessed to have this young girl in our lives. I wanted to create an elegant card for her, congratulating her on this big day! The bits of vellum, butterflies, and the Duetica Mandolyn font captured the essence of Marcie’s graceful gymnastics as well as her gracious heart!

You make life FUN!

Rebecca Lynn

This may be one of the first cards that I have ever created that does not require the use of any patterned paper! The word “FUN” I cut out of a Starbucks Coffee sleeve and paired it with the Duetica DT Tin Whistle font. It came together so well! I made a card using the tic-tac-toe idea a few years ago, but had always wanted to try it again, and I’m glad I did. I added a few embellishments to complete the look.
