Sensational!

Niki Meiners

Recently a girlfriend of mine graduated from Cosmetology school. When she turned 40 she decided to give up her Accounting career and do what she really loved. She was encouraged to get her accounting degree right out of HS and even went on to get her MBA from Wharton. But that is not what she truly wanted to do. So upon her graduation I gave her this 5×5 card. The card itself was inspired by the colors she will have in her studio. She is going for a Spa like feel with an international flair. I used a stencil called Marakesh with Clearsnap Fluid Chalk ink. For the font I wanted something fun and whimsical, so I used the Duetica DT Saxi font. I chose to print it in brown on white and give it a spray of Smooch Spritz for extra Shimmer.

3D Dad

Rebecca Lynn

I made this card for Father’s Day and wanted something really different from my usual style. The card itself is supposed to look like the front of a man’s shirt, with the collar and buttons. I also paired it with Duetica’s Riley font and a wooden flower to look like a boutonniere and name tag. The shirt portrays the serious side of dad, the Riley font brings out his playful spirit, and the flower represents his gentle nature. This card should certainly make any dad a happy man.

Oh, Baby!

Niki Meiners

I needed the perfect packaging for a baby gift. The packaging can double as storage or decorations in the room. I painted wood canisters in buttermilk. I used shades purple and brown in the accents to accompany. I used the Duetica DT Saxi font for the lettering, and printed it on clear sticker paper in dark brown. I did this so the canister could be usable and could easily be wiped off. She does not know the gender of the baby and has not decided on a baby name so I told her once she did I would print her out a single monogram for the top and monogramed initials for the middle set. The flower accents are from Prima and the paper is Core’dinations.

Heart and Home

Kathy Peterson

I was recently planning an open house, and wanted to send invites that would show my guests just how much I loved them. To create the cards, I used two simple sketches of a heart and home plus some words that I have painted on my kitchen walls for inspiration. The sketches have a simple crayon or chalk-like look, which was complimented by the look of the Duetica Tin Whistle font. The entire project was designed in Photoshop, then printed out and glued on to card stock to complete the invite.

Patriotic Tag

Candice Windham

To celebrate Independence Day, with a vintage look, I created this tag for the cover of my July mini-album, but you could use it for any number of occasions around the 4th of July holiday. The tag is all made of paper and card stock, but I was able to give it a convincing vintage metal look with the application of various distressing inks. I started with Sizzix / Tim Holtz Gadget Gears dies, and added the Rosie the Riveter stamp artwork. The patriotic sentiment was crafted using the Duetica Floot font to add that summer flag-waving feeling.

Piano Prodigy

Christy Monge

My niece Ava loves to bang on the piano. We think she is quite talented and ready for lessons! For this layout, I used a kit from The Digital Scrapbook Place called “Singing the Blues” by Erica Betan, and the Duetica DT Floot and DT Saxi fonts. I created the titles in the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio online app and brought them into Photoshop Elements. I used a hard edged shadow, with and inner glow and bevel to add some dimension to the lettering art. This technique really adds a lot to the titles and journaling, and it its quick and easy to do. The Duetica app also makes it easy to switch back and forth between fonts and letters when composing your lettering art.

Cooling Down

Becky Conley

This glimmering page just says jump in the pool, which is the perfect cool down for a summer day. That’s my grand daughter, Ryan, staying cool by the pool. You can create the title using the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio online app and then print them on the background paper. I completed the page using papers from the Basic Grey, Lauderdale collection. There is rubber stamping with Cerulean blue ink accented with fine art glitter. The ink around the edges is Cerulean Blue also.

Good Morning Sunshine

Candice Windham

Nothing ushers in summer better than the delightful day lilies in my backyard garden. For this digital scrapbook page, I snapped a photo of a blooming lily saying hello to the morning sun. Using noise and texture filters in Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) you can create the matting, borders and framing. The Duetica Saxi font was used to add a playful prancing to the title and journaling.

Birth Sign Profile

Kathy Peterson

My mom had wooden plaques of our family members’ birth signs for wall art when I was in my teens. To make a more modern version for my own family, I chose to update the look by making the design more fanciful and light hearted. The Duetica Tin Whistle font was the perfect choice to capture the zestful nature of a Sagittarian. The entire project was done in Photoshop (you can also use Photoshop Elements). The Duetica Lettering Arts Studio allows you to add color blobs behind the letters, for this project I mixed the Duetica DT Saxi font blobs with the Duetica Tin Whistle font. The final design was embellished with a variety of clip art and hand drawn items.

Prom 2011

Christy Monge

My daughter’s first prom was at the Aquarium of the Pacific, and called for me to create a “virtual aquarium” for their scrapbook page! I used 2 kits from The Digital Scrapbook Place, “Aquarium” by Elizabeth Weaver, and “Neptune’s Garden” by Lauren Bavin. I used the Duetica DT Saxi font for the tag, creating the title in the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio online app. I brought the lettering art into Photoshop Elements, and added a hard edge drop shadow, bevel and outer glow to make it stand out. For the sign, I used Duetica’s DT Riley font. I love this font, especially the way the letters move! For Prom 2011 I could curve the title upward in Duetica without having to play with individual letters in Photoshop. For Atlantis I was able to stretch out the title and give it a slightly different look.
