Swisher Sweetie Pie

Kristie Taylor

When you are this cute, you have to have your very own scrapbook page, or an album or two. For this page, I wanted all her cuteness to come crashing through. I started with paper from Basic Grey along with Bazzil and AC glitter cardstock. I added findings, fabric and distressing inks to give the page a vintage look that went along with the simple style of Swisher’s dress. To add some extra sparkle, I used a glitter pen to highlight the page title which was printed using the Duetica DT Mandolyn font.

SUPPLIES:

Spanish Thank You Cards

Niki Meiners

What should a good guest do after a celebration? Why send a thank you card. Even better is to send a hand made thank you card. I like to make my cards in big batches. That way I always have some on hand. When creating these cards I wanted to use really fun fonts too. So I went to Duetica.com and played around until I got just the look I wanted. To create the spanish greeting card set I used some of my favorite papers from Frances Meyer. I also used Marvy Uchida Punches. The Duetica fonts allowed me to create the sentiments that I wanted (not just what they have at the store), and the font variability makes the finished cards look like they were lettered by a professional. After you have enjoyed the celebration do not forget to be a good guest and send a note of thanks.

SUPPLIES:
Paper Frances Meyer
Punches Marvy Uchida

Tag Box

Eileen Hull

My daughter had to go to the hospital recently, so I decided to make her a tag box to hold all her tags and get well wishes. I cut out three Notebook Pocket dies from the red, white and blue mat board pieces in a Big Shot machine. I laid out the nameplate in Illustrator using the Duetica Piper font. The Duetica software allows you to test out many versions of each letter so you can customize the word or phrase to look just how you want it. I printed out the text (as a mirror image) onto Grafix Rub-Onz film, and then transferred the design to the tag box. I next tacked three boxes together, and wrapped a strip of kraft paper around the top and taped it in place. I used my sewing machine to sew a paper ruffle to add as an embellishment. The red, white and blue color theme reflects her job- she’s a LTJG in the Coast Guard, and definitely brought a smile to her face as she dutifully recovered.

SUPPLIES:
Sizzix Big Shot die cut machine
ScoreBoard Notebook Pocket die
3 sheets of 6″ x 13″ matboard
Red half pearls
Ribbon
3 tags- 6 1/4″ x 3 1/8″
Craft paper

Todi Theater

Christy Monge

One thing I love about digital scrapbooking is that it allows you to do thing with photos that you cannot do in tradition layouts. This background paper is particularly challenging to work with, simply because the piano takes up so much of it and does not allow for many pictures. I really wanted to add the picture of the piano player, so I had the idea to put him in as a reflection in the piano, then turn down the transparency. If you have some sharp edges-use the smudge tool to blend in the photo. I loved the result. I added the “dream” title to the piano using the Duetica Mandolyn font. Lastly, I scanned in a piece of music that was played in the concert and added it in the background.

Messages in a Bottle

Kathy Peterson

Simple but memorable—that’s the whole idea behind any event, especially weddings! So to put a “simple” spin on displaying various vignettes for an upcoming wedding, I thought it would be fun to have each guest send ”messages” and well wishes in a bottle to the bride and groom. I used vintage bottles, brown paper, some twine and Duetica’s Floot font to feel like handwriting. The font has so many alternate forms, it really does look and feel handwritten.

SUPPLIES:
Card stock paper,
brown paper,
blue ink from printer,
double sided tape,
scissors or straight edge cutter,
twine
vintage tableware

Live Simply

Becky Conley

To brighten my mood on a chilly afternoon, I created this canvas artwork. I first painted the canvas, blending both green and yellow. The title is printed onto mulberry paper, then moistened around the edges and torn. I use the Xyron to adhere it to the canvas, then stippled the background with both yellow and green paint to help soften edges of the paper. The branches are hand painted and random. Next I attached the flowers, the colorful centers, and the charm. I pounced alcohol ink onto the metal butterfly, let dry and attached it with glue. The title is highlighted with a very small amount of stickles.

SUPPLIES:
6×6 wrapped canvas
Acrylic paint -lime green, pale yellow, brown, tan
metal butterfly (old Home Interiors & Gifts)
Alcohol Ink-Adirondak Stream, Denim (Ranger)
Ice stickles (Ranger)
fabric flowers – Teters
Brass Charm – unknown
Flower Soft for center of flowers

Romeo and Juliet

Christy Monge

My daughter’s final performance in Shakespeare in the Grotto, she appears as one of the 3 Fates. With no prior dance experience, she performed gracefully and dramatically. To capture the dramatic mood, I used two digital kits, “Stars of the Stage” by Kim Liddiard and “Theatre Performance” by Marcee Duggar. The Mandolyn Font from Duetica was perfect to create the romantic Romeo and Juliet title as well as the quotes. DT Riley was used for the Shakespeare title.

Favorite Things

Becky Conley

A simple photo collage of some of my most favorite things! (are you seeing a lot of blue! ) I used a paper saving technique on this because I only had one sheet of that blue card stock, I printed the journaling block in the center of the page and cut it out with a straight trimmer (Westcott) the hole is covered by the photo collage but I did use a scrap of paper over the hole first for stability.

Corner Rounder punch -creative memories
Fabric Flowers – Teters
Sunflower Dew Drops -The Robin’s Nest

Trick or Treat

Suzanne Sergi

Not to get ahead of things with Christmas in July, there are now only 108 shopping days until Halloween! This card captures the essence of the holiday’s traditional orange pumpkins and black cat tails. I used a variety of patterned papers layered to achieve a multi-dimensional effect. The Duetica DT Tin Whistle font perfectly portrays the mischievous nature of children out to gather all the candy they can. Trick or treat!
