Father’s Day Card

Keri Lee Sereika

Taking time to recognize all the wonderful fathers out there is important & not just once a year but the entire year through….For this card I simply wanted to design something that my husband would love. I happen to love the colors Kraft, Red & Blue together…no matter what the shades! For the sentiment I had the notion to use a chipboard letter from Want2Scrap in place of the printed “F” but still use the fun swirls that come with the Duetica DT Woodwynds font uppercase letter. To achieve this I opened a file in Photoshop, created a total of three layers, one for each word I was planning on using. I made the word “Father’s” larger than both of the other words. I then made sure that the “F” even larger than the rest of the word. Finally I created another layer & using the rectangular selector tool I created a selection over top of the “F” and filled it with white but kept the swirls that were coming off. My last step was to arrange the layers so that the sentiment was placed together so that there would be room to add the chipboard “F” as I had planned. I then printed the sentiment and die cut around it using Spellbinders Labels Four. To finish off my sentiment panel I simply inked the chipboard “F”, applied glue to the entire surface and applied red glitter to really give it “POP!”. After that it was simply a matter of putting the card all together as you see here.

Light of the Party

Becky Conley

I wanted to tie the theme from my invitations over to my party table settings. Since this was an evening party, I thought luminaries would be a nice touch to add a glow to a magical night. I printed the large letter “R” using the Duetica DT Woodwynds font, and added the “Happily Ever After” sentiment at the bottom using the DT Mandolyn font. Using a craft knife, I cut the widest areas of the monogram out, leaving some of the printed ink color around the border. I then adhered the vellum behind the cut out, and rolled the ends together securing with super sticky tape. Finally, I just had to add some stickles to the dots on the this wonderful font to add to the sparkle of these charming luminaries.

Party in Style

Becky Conley

Nothing is more fun than hosting a party with a bit of flair, and nothing sets the tone better than a stylish invitation. To create a classy invitation with matching envelopes and RSVP cards, I used the Duetica DT Mandolyn font. The invitation was printed on cardstock. I used my Purple Cow tools to add embellishments to the corners. To add a bit more color, I wrapped the invitation with color-matched fibers and finished it off with a white flower from Petaloo.

Candid Mom

Jaclyn Keys

This special project was created for my mom in honor of Mother’s Day. It was a challenge to find a photo of her to use because she was always the one taking photos of my sister and I when we were younger. Very rarely did someone ever turn the camera on her; this is going to be even more challenging when I need to find a picture of my Dad! He always hated photos of himself and dodged the camera whenever possible. This project was created using very little materials. Cardstock in light purple, dark purple, and light pink, as well as K and Co patterned cardstocks were used. The butterflies, flowers, and word “Mom” were cut using my Silhouette SD and were adorned in varies embellishments including pearls, pink rhinestones, and clear rhinestones. The Duetica DT Woodwynds font was used to create the word Mom.

Mom Has Many Names

Keri Lee Sereika

I love my mom. She’s a wonderfully fun person who everyone loves! She has a joyful spirit that just oozes to all those around her. This week I decided it would be fun to scrap a layout with her as the subject! 🙂 Rather than use patterned paper, I decided to get creative and make my own backgrounds. I printed repetitive words using the Duetica Mandolyn font. I love how crisp and clean this font is but still has a flowing feminine feel at the same time. I decided it would be cute to make a list of all the names my mom has answered to in her life time….Marilyn, Mon, Mom, Kiddo, Momma, Mommy, Mother, Mimi etc…I then just repeated the list over and over and printed in a light gray on Kraft cardstock to make the background strip beneath the photo. Then for my title I again used the Duetica Mandolyn font in a larger point size and a cool teal color. One of the best things I am finding when working with the fonts is that I can customize EVERYTHING about them, the way they type out, the colors I print in, the size, the layout…you name it, you do it! 🙂 Since we just celebrated Mother’s Day now is a great time to get out that photo of your mother and treasure that memory as you create a keepsake scrapbook layout…totally customized using Duetica fonts of course! 🙂

Matching Mother’s Day Card

Jaclyn Keys

I created this simple project to match a store bought gift bag that was yellow with pink ribbon handles. After spending a good half hour looking through the Mother’s Day card section of my local Target, I decided that none of the cards said exactly what I wanted them to. So I went home to create my own. The materials used in this project were plain colored cardstock in pink and yellow. I used my Silhouette SD to cut the shape of the card and the butterfly on the front, and printed the flowers and word Mom onto the yellow cardstock from the Silhouette Studio program before cutting the cardstock into the corresponding shape using the Silhouette cutter. The word Mom was created using the beautiful Duetica DT Woodwynds font, and was adorned with clear rhinestones. Pink rhinestones were also used to add dimension to the butterfly.

Chilly Willy Champions

Niki Meiners

The picture is of a group of ladies I scrapbook with. We all took a road trip together and during one of the car rides we were talking about games we played in the car with our kids. My family has a standing tradition of playing Chilly Willy. If you know the game I am sure you love it. If not, you soon will. Chilly Willy is played by saying “Chilly Willy likes _________, but not _______”. You fill in the first blank with a word that contains double letters and the second with a word that does not. Chilly Willy likes lollipops but not candy. We always try to make the words in the blank related in some way as it makes it more difficult to guess how to play. Well, Chilly Willy was a hit and we played it in the restaurant too. Even the kids at the next table joined in. Duetica fonts are perfect for this layout because you have so many style choices for each letter. I used the Duetica DT Tin Whistle font for my layout. Notice how all the lower case “l’s” are different. It really makes the lettering look like it was done by hand, not some old computer.

Resurrection Sunday

Veronica Goff

I simply LOVE how this turned out! It’s already hanging on my wall to celebrate our risen Lord this coming Easter morning. I began with a wooden party tray, which I repainted. Then I traced the outline of the tray and cut some scrapbook paper to fit. I used the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio to print out the words “Resurrection Sunday” on white cardstock, and then distressed with inks, cut out with scissors, and glued in place. As a finishing touch, I added flowers, buttons, pearls, and assorted jewelry parts. Using the Duetica DT Woodwynds font from Duetica Lettering Arts Studio, this piece has a regal feel, as it very well should have!

Desk Top Vase

Veronica Goff

I wanted to create something to brighten up my desk at work, and I found just the thing! Recycling a Pringles can turned into the perfect vase to hold flowers. The Duetica DT Tin Whistle font got me “whistling while I worked.” The words were layered upon scrapbook paper, and then embellished with crystals and some beautiful ribbon. By adding some floral fun to my desk, my work is a whole lot more cheerful.
