Good Man, Good Dad

Lori Servies

I love to make handmade cards. Father’s Day, however, is probably the hardest holiday to make cards for. We all love colorful paper and frilly ribbons and bows but those are just not appropriate for masculine cards. For this Father’s Day card, I chose some neutral base colors with a patterned paper on top that had just a splash of color here and there. On the sentiment, I had to resist the urge to cut it out with a frilly die cut from SpellBinders! I stayed with a simple rectangle to emphasize the words because those are the most important part of the card! I love Duetica Fonts because I can make my cards “say” exactly what I want them to say while being elegant and bold at the same time. On this card I used the Duetica DT Tin Whistle font. It is a bold and masculine font and fits right in with the style of the card. And as we all know, our fathers are good men, good friends, and most of all, good fathers.

Michelle’s Wedding Memories

Ann Butler

When I first saw the beautiful letters in the Duetica Lettering System I knew it was finally time that I created a keepsake for my daughter’s wedding which I had been meaning to do for quite a while….I knew I wanted to do a Mixed Media Basswood Canvas as it would be able to sit on a shelf or hand on a wall making it easy to display. The hard part was choosing the letters from the beautiful choices now at my fingertips. The Duetica Letter System make it easy to and it turned out simply stunning. I arranged my wording on the computer and printed it out on tissue paper which was ironed onto freezer paper to be able to go through my printer that way the wording would blend into the background of the piece.

Basswood Canvas
Earth Safe Finishes Gel Medium, Teal, Pearl Powder

Monogram Pillow

Lorine Mason

For this pillow project I utilized the wonderful Duetica DT Woodwinds font and created a housewarming gift my daughter and her partner who are moving into their new house next week. I decided since their initials were kind of fun kMn & kNm that I would create a one-of-kind pillow. I created the pattern on my computer, printed it out and used a light table to trace in onto a piece of canvas. I then lined out the tracing using a marker and painted in the centers of the letters. I used Tumble Dye by S.E.I to paint in the letters. I combined fuchsia, pink and yellow to achieve the coloring you see on the pillow front. While the ink does not act as a full resist, I found that I could carefully brush in the paint right next to the ink allowing only a small space for the ink to flow and had no problems. Once you have completed your line work, painting and have heat set the inks and dyes it is time to create your pillow. There are many ways to make a pillow and sometimes simple is the way to go.

Even Heroes Need Some Downtime

Keri Lee Sereika

Being married to a USAF Pilot tends to keep our lives in a constant stream of motion and upended plans. Just because you plan to spend a day out and about as a family doesn’t mean the USAF can’t come and change all those plans! We love to spend our days out on the water fishing, swimming and hanging out on the family boat. It’s a fun time to the kids but it’s like therapy to Adam. Getting time to just “chill” as a family is just what our very own hero needs sometimes. Combining different styles of the Duetica Piper Font with an assortment of colors and sizes, as well as the new DT Floot Font Bonus Spring/Summer digital kit was just what this photo needed to be pulled from the archives and added to a family scrapbook page!

SUPPLIES:
Photoshop or other graphics drawing program

The Last Grad

Becky Conley

On June 1st, my youngest child, Jessica will be graduating from High School. WHEW, the time has flown by!! We are planning her graduation bash and with the help of Duetica.com’s pretty fonts, I’ve created this invitation for the event using the DT Floot, DT Woodwynds, DT Piper and DT Tin Whistle fonts. This invitation is just her style! It’s easy to make elegant invitations using your imagination, lots of layers and the fabulous fonts of Duetica.com’s Lettering Arts Studio. It was so easy to create in Microsoft Word. I laid it out 4 copies to a page and printed it out on cardstock. I finished it off by double matting it and added a touch of ribbon.

SUPPLIES:

Patterned paper

Flutter By, Little Butterfly

Candice Windham

My sister was the closest human to a butterfly that I ever saw. She was on the move constantly, bouncing from one room to the next in the house or from sand box to swing to playing with the dog outside. When I saw Duetica’s new bonus Spring / Summertime kit that comes with the DT Floot font, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I selected only four pieces (it comes with at least 25 elements, which you can customize to your liking) from the kit plus the DT Mandolin font to get the look. The Duetica lettering system makes it so easy to customize your fonts and now, with the digital kits, the sky is the limit. Open the Duetica Lettering Arts Studio and set the word “Butterfly”. Save the file as a png,  then open that file in Photoshop. Select the letters and make each the color you desire from you basic palette.  Place it on top of the ribbon, sizing it to fit.

Baby Shower

Eileen Hull

We recently had a baby shower for my daughter Jess. She is due with her little guy soon so we’ll be headed down to Miami. I can’t wait to meet him! And see my daughter and SIL of course 🙂 Here’s a layout I designed using the beautiful Mandolyn font by Duetica. I formatted the text in Illustrator and cut them out using my Sizzix eclips. Now, in addition to all of the fun designs you can cut from eclips cartridges, there is a new feature called eCAL that allows you to cut files that you design yourself! Love it- and it’s really easy to do! Can you imagine cutting these delicate letters by hand? FYI- The background paper grid actually looks like bathroom tiles especially using the glossy paper…. My daughter looked at this and said, “Oh cool, I get it- baby SHOWER”. Yeah, I meant to do that. Really.

SUPPLIES:
Sizzix eclips machine
Big Shot die cut machine
Borders & Hydrangeas Bigz die (shipping any day now!
white glossy 12″ x 12″ cardstock
photos and paper to mat them with

Sleepless in Seattle

Christy Monge

My daughter’s final choir trip to Seattle left us all teary eyed and the chaperones “sleepless” as we worried about sending our seniors off to college. They will miss their friendship and music! I created this digital scrapbook page using music-themed digital papers and embellishments from Rozanne Paxman. The Duetica DT Saxi and DT Riley fonts added to the page’s manic energy with all their style variations. Unlike with other fonts that have only one look for each letter, I was able to add some energy by varying the styles of the DT Saxi font, and I didn’t have to lose any sleep doing it 🙂

Ahoy Sailor

Jaclyn Keys

This fun little layout was created one day after a pin-up photoshoot with Andrew Zappone Jr. of Liberty Calendars (http://libertycalendars.com/) because the outfit I wore for the picture inspired me. I thought the outfit was adorable and wanted to explore creating a nautical layout. I used a Nautical patterned paper from JazzyPatterns. I printed them onto plain white paper using my home printer, and cut them into various shapes to build the layout using my Silhouette SD. The Ahoy Sailor title was created using the Duetica DT Tin Whistle font, and was adorned with red rhinestones. Plain colored cardstock was used to create the anchor and waves, which were cut using my Silhouette SD.

Dad Challenges

Christy Monge

My husband has not had it easy being a father. He has always had to work hard to make ends meet and there were challenges when he got divorced. Now he faces the biggest challenge of his life: Parkinson’s Disease. We are all putting aside differences to come together and help him. This layout is for him. Even with all his challenges, he still remembers how to smile. The Duetica DT Piper and Woodwynds fonts help to capture that feeling.
